Many students are heading to developed countries like Australia, Canada and United States for higher studies like MS and PhD from Asia and particularly India. From my experience of the last year, from preparing for GRE, creating SOP, preparing my application to choosing universities and getting visa, I’ll be creating this series of posts for MS in the USA with some posts of universities of Canada where one of my college friend has headed to.

In this post, I’m listing top universities in the USA for MS course. As you must know that GRE is required for a good MS course, this list is for the students who have GRE score between 305 and 315. However, please note that GRE is just one part of the story. If you’ve a better GRE but overall application isn’t quite as good, you might wanna consider applying to a university that requires lesser GRE score and vice versa.

One of the popular schools for Business, Engineering and IT, University of South Carolina is located in South Carolina’s capital Columbia on East Coast. USC Columbia is a private university spread in 218 acre area and has placements in corporations like Bank of America, IBM, AT&T and Boeing. Ranked #107 among America’s National Universities and among 250 global universities by US News.
The largest university among State Universities of New York, SUNY Buffalo is located around 380 miles northwest of NYC. Ranked as one of the top 100 national universities in America by US News, SUNY Buffalo, also referred to as University of Buffalo (or UB for short) was established in 1846. It’s a popular destination for students interested in Business Development, Engineering and Health Services.
One of the prestigious universities, Indiana University is a public university located in Bloomington, Indiana with a population of more than 30K students. Ranked among top 90 universities in America and #109 globally by US News, Indiana Universities is place to be for experience in a research intensive international student environment – whether you’re interested in Arts, Mathematics, Physics, Economics or Computer Science.
ASU is a highly reputed public university and must-apply for students with decent profile. Top companies like Intel, Google, Amazon, Oracle, Cisco, Apple, IBM and Boeing hire from Arizona State University students in the field of Business, Design, Engineering, Research and Finance. Ranked among top 150 global universities, ASU is a popular destination for international students looking forward to join work force in USA.
Lower GRE scorers will need a stronger overall application to get a call from ASU.
Ranked among top 40 universities in USA and among top 200 globally, Northeastern is a popular destination for students wanting to study Business and Computer Science – both programs ranked among top 50. Northeastern University is particularly known for its international crowd with university focusing and advertising its focus on diversity quite a lot.
Popular alumni include former COO of SoftBank, Nikesh Arora and Twitter Co-founder Biz Stone. Top companies like Dell EMC, IBM, Oracle and Microsoft hire graduates from Northeastern.
The University of Texas at Dallas is a public university located at Richardson, Texas. UTD is ranked among top 150 universities in America and among top 250 in the world by US News. It’s popular among international students coming to USA to study Engineering and IT. Companies like HP, AT&T, Intel, Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, Dell and Apple hire students from UTD.
A relatively newer university according to American standards, George Mason or GMU for short is a respected public university in Fairfax, Virginia. It’s the largest university in Virginia with a student body of around 34K. Ranked among top 150 American Universities. It’s particularly known for economics with noble prize wining faculty. If you’ve an average profile and want to study Business, IT or Engineering, Media, GMU is for you.
Wanna go to a good west coast university with an average profile? Go to UCR. UCR is a good university for Business Development, Finance and doctorate engineering courses. the university is ranked among top 120 national universities in America and #56 public school by US News. Worry not about jobs as Google, Amazon and Boeing hire graduates from UCR.
Another university on east coast, Clemson University is a public land grant university in Clemson, South Carolina. Established in 1889, Clemson University is flocked by students for Engineering, Business Development, Sales and Operation courses. It’s ranked at position 66 by US News in America.
IIT Chicago is a well known private university for engineering with alumni working in Apple, Motorola, IBM, AT&T, Microsoft and Nokia. Ranked 103 as among America’s National Universities by US News, it’s ranked #232 global engineering school. Chicago is one of the best place to live your student life with university’s 120 acre urban campus – you’ll not go wrong with IITC.
Established in 1881, University of Connecticut is one of the top 60 American Universities with one of the top 50 business programs. Located in Storrs, Mansfield, Connecticut, UConn is a public research university in a beautiful state on east coast.
